Learning Reimbursements
SunGard employees are strongly encouraged to seek out opportunities that continue their professional development. We reimburse our team members for classes, seminars, off-site training, and other educational opportunities that work to grow your success at SunGard. In addition, we offer a company-wide Educational Assistance Plan that provides financial assistance to employees pursuing work-related educational courses or degree programs on an “after work hours” basis. SunGard will reimburse* employees who successfully complete pre-approved, work-related courses and degree programs, both undergraduate and graduate. Upon successful completion of the course (a grade of C or better), we reimburse an employee for 75% of the costs for tuition, books and applicable fees.
* The reimbursement will not exceed the IRS regulations for maximum annual educational reimbursement. Please contact Human Resources for information on the most recent regulations/totals.
Sustainability Initiatives
For SunGard, sustainability is a matter of values. It is also a matter of competitiveness. We are dedicated to sustainable development as an integral part of the way we conduct business. Operating our facilities requires a significant amount of energy, and we are actively working to improve our energy efficiency by tracking Power Usage Efficiency (PUE) and pursuing efficiency best practices in our data centers. Several other initiatives support our commitment to sustainable development including an e-waste recycling program, Supplier Code of Conduct, and use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified paper. Employees help set the direction for our sustainability goals through our Sustainability Council. We also partner with industry groups and non-governmental organizations including the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Corporate EcoForum, Environmental Defense Fund, and The Green Grid for expertise and best practices.

Employee Recognition
APEXUnderlying the huge role that service delivery and customer satisfaction play in our company’s success, SunGard rewards the best of the best through a program called APEX (Achieving Professional Excellence). Used to recognized performance in Operations and Global Services organizations, APEX includes both employees and managers. Nominations for exemplary performance are collected, tracked, administered, processed and distributed monthly and can be submitted via print or online.
Elite
SunGard Availability Services’ Elite program recognizes Finance & Administration (F&A) team members who consistently exceed expectations and help us to reach our goals. Providing an opportunity to acknowledge contributions and thank employees for a job well done, the Elite program focuses on notable individual or group projects and innovations as well as on Excellence, Leadership, Initiative, Teamwork and Going the Extra Mile.

SunGard Availability Services rewards milestone service anniversaries. Employees can review applicable service award selections and receive instructions for online ordering via our vendor, O.C. Tanner.
Local Hero
This SunGard Availability Services quarterly recognition program spotlights employees who have made a difference in the sustainability of the workplace and inspired others. Featuring those who set a great example through their efforts to recycle, reduce and reuse - whether it’s smart use of paper, turning off lights in empty rooms, donating items to charity, creating ways to reduce work-related travel or making facility-wide changes - Local Hero award winners are nominated by their co-workers. In addition to receiving a reusable SunGard bag and mug, the company makes a $500 donation in the winner’s name to the Nature Conservancy.
