Wayne, Pa., May 5, 2010 — SunGard Availability Services is opening a new workforce continuity facility in Federal Way, Wash. to provide customers with disaster recovery and testing services. The facility is available to organizations in need of an alternative workspace, telecommunications capabilities and IT resources to support their workforce and recover business processes after a disaster, and during a recovery test.
“By leveraging our Federal Way facility and global network backbone, customers have access to a single source for equipment, services and support needed to help ensure IT and network resources are recoverable,” said Paul Gerrard, senior vice president, Western Region at SunGard Availability Services. “Organizations will have the resources, workspace and equipment they need to be productive and connected to essential business information and applications when the unexpected occurs.”
The SunGard facility is located outside the King County Critical Areas Ordinance zone for erosion, seismic activity, landslide hazard, floodway, lahar inundation, urban wildfire hazard, and liquefaction hazard, as well as being outside the Green River flood plain.
The 12,000 square foot facility provides fully equipped workgroup positions with access to the latest desktop and server hardware as well as the SunGard Global Network to address network and telephony requirements. Office resources include fully furnished conference rooms and a lounge area, and telecommunications capabilities allowing for full failover and recovery of toll-free and voice communication for call centers.
The facility’s power management includes an automatic transfer switch (ATS) with an onsite generator and an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Environmental controls for the facility comprise 50 tons of shared cooling capacity.
SunGard Workforce Continuity services provide a recovery solution for an organization’s employees when their facility is unavailable so business-critical processes can be quickly resumed following the interruption. The solution can support business processes including call center, customer service, order processing, help desk and other key customer functions. Additionally, Workforce Continuity services support back-office functions such as trade clearing, finance and accounting, remote console access and other processes.
