One of the big issues with cloud computing is the simple fact that IT organizations want to have their cake and eat it too. They generally like the cost model associated with cloud computing, but are not all that excited about sharing infrastructure. In other words, many of them are really looking for a hybrid approach that combines the best of cloud computing with traditional managed hosting models.

SunGard Availability Services, a provider of IT services, is attempting to deliver just that with a new SunGard SAP Services offering that is based on the vBlock integrated server platform developed by The Virtual Computing Environment (VCE) Company, a joint venture between Cisco, EMC, VMware and Intel.
