Sungard AS offers customers updated cloud recovery service powered by Zerto

May 21, 2018

Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) is pleased to announce the availability of an enhanced version of the Cloud Recovery – Virtual Servers service it first launched in November 2017. Leveraging Zerto technology to deliver resiliency for the Sungard AS cloud platform, new enhancements include the ability for customers to bring their own Zerto licenses, increased scalability to support 1000+ virtual machine environments, and improved service level agreement (SLA) support.

For companies who provide cloud management and recovery solutions, there’s never been a more critical time to fortify their offerings. And while there’s no single recovery technology capable of spanning today's vast and varied IT landscape, two things are for certain: business resilience is vital, and one size does not fit all.

With nearly 40 years of award-winning production and recovery IT experience under its belt, Sungard AS is a leader in the Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) space. This includes being cited as a “Leader” in the most recent Forrester Wave report on Disaster Recovery as a Service providers, as well as the Gartner Magic Quadrant for DRaaS.

Zerto provides enterprise-class disaster recovery software for virtualized infrastructures and cloud environments. Their technology allows Sungard AS to provide recovery capabilities with aggressive Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs), thereby meeting most business SLAs and compliance requirements.

Sungard AS Cloud Recovery – Virtual Servers helps customers achieve automated and orchestrated recovery with a guaranteed 4-hour RTO SLA. Customer benefits include:

  • Orchestrated and automated 4-hour RTOs with guaranteed Service Level Agreements
  • Heterogeneous and hybrid platform recovery support with seamless connectivity to Sungard AS physical IT recovery assets
  • Fully managed service with 24x7 monitoring
  • Enhanced data protection
  • Flexibility of either Sungard AS or customer-provided Zerto licensing

Zerto technology provides multi-site resiliency for more than 50 Sungard AS cloud infrastructure customers today. “As we evaluated various technologies to expand our cloud recovery portfolio, we chose Zerto as the underlying technology for a storage and hypervisor-agnostic solution with aggressive RTO and RPO recovery times for virtualized environments,“ said Joseph George, Vice President of Product Management, Global Recovery Services, Sungard AS. “Our experience with Zerto was a key factor in choosing their technology to be part of this service.”

As a result, Sungard AS can provide market-leading recovery solutions leveraging Zerto, along with other third-party and Sungard AS-developed technologies, to address a broad range of complex recovery use cases.

Customers looking for fully managed, application level recovery including automated application discovery and dependency mapping need look no further than the Sungard AS Managed Recovery Program (MRP) along with the Cloud Recovery – Virtual Servers service. Moreover, the Sungard AS service incorporates recovery architecture and procedure design, execution of recovery during both tests and disasters, and ongoing change management to ensure recovery readiness.

Companies can discuss the benefits of the Sungard AS and Zerto cloud DRaaS solution at ZertoCON, May 21 – 23 at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston.
