Sungard Availability Services Recognised at the BC awards

London, United Kingdom: 25 May 2018 – Sungard Availability Services ® (Sungard AS), a leading provider of information availability through managed IT, cloud and recovery services, took home the Ambassador Award at this year's Business Continuity Awards, which took place at the London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square on Thursday 7th June. In Addition, Sungard AS customer, Barclays, received the Excellence in Business Continuity in the Financial Sector award, while the Lifetime Achievement Award went to former Sungard AS customer, Steve Mellish of Mellish Risk & Resilience Limited.

Ambassador award

The BC Ambassador Award recognises the continued commitment of Sungard AS to delivering the highest standards of service to our customers. Lifetime Achievement award

Sungard AS is delighted to congratulate former customer and Customer Advisory Board member, Steve Mellish Hon FBCI, on being honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year's BC Awards. Steve is the founder and director of Mellish Risk & Resilience Limited, a company specialising in risk and business continuity management with an emphasis on collaborative leadership and cultural integration. Steve established Mellish Risk & Resilience in 2012, following a long and successful career with Sainsbury's, which included the establishment of an enterprise-wide business continuity program for the retailer. Between 2002 and 2014 Steve was a Board Director of the BCI including two terms as Chairman. He also served on the Sungard AS Customer Advisory Board (CAB), a role in which his contribution was much valued in ensuring that Sungard AS continues to help all its customers remain resilient.

In addition to the Ambassador award and Lifetime Achievement award, Sungard AS customer Barclays was also recognised for excellence in Business Continuity in the financial sector.

Representing techUK (formerly Intellect), the trade association, Sungard AS helped define ISO 27036 – the IT standard relating to information security in supplier relationships (including cloud services) as a member of SC27.  Previously in a similar arrangement, Sungard AS helped develop both business continuity management standard BS 25999, now ISO 22301 and IT continuity management standard ISO 27031.  Within the UK, Sungard AS became the first business continuity provider to secure certification against the BS 25999 Standard, which it retained in 2010.
