Nashville: Where technology & country music collide

    May 14, 2019
No one has ever accused the country & western music industry of being an early adopter of technology. Some of the most famous C&W songs in history conjure up tech tools from a bygone era: phonograph records, CB radios, answering machines and faxes.

But today’s artists enter a new era of technological sophistication, using social media and new distribution methods to their advantage like never before. From streaming music around the globe, to embracing hip-hop & rap, to star-shaped rotating stages with 360 livestreaming, country music has made gigantic strides to catch up in high tech.

As Sony Music Nashville chairman & CEO Randy Goodman once said: “Country music always lags behind in terms of technology adoption. But it always catches up.”

Perhaps that’s why Nashville is the perfect place to hold ZertoCON 2019, the IT resilience conference for modern leaders driving digital transformation. ZertoCON offers attendees a chance to get hands-on education to deliver continuous availability and mobility of their data. For IT leaders looking to embrace transformative technology that goes beyond backup and recovery, to true IT resilience in order to accelerate transformation, ZertoCON is the place to be.

With data escalating at a rate faster than ticket sales to a Garth Brooks concert, businesses are looking for new alternatives to back up their data so they can recover faster in the event of a disaster. Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) has joined forces with Zerto to provide Cloud Recovery-Virtual Servers (CR-VS) recovery solutions to help companies migrate from do-it-yourself solutions to a managed service offering. These are hyper-visor replication solutions with the low cost and efficiency of the cloud, automating the entire disaster recovery workflow and eliminating the need for manual procedures.

Sungard AS CR-VS with Zerto Virtual Replication – a Disaster Recovery as a Solution offering – is ideal for companies with small to large virtual environments looking for aggressive recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs). It is especially well suited for firms considering outsourcing some or all their recovery needs to a third party, particularly those seeking a hybrid IT approach. Think of it as a refined slide guitar solo in a country western song about mamas, trains, prison and pick-up trucks.

Sadly, 35 percent of do-it-yourself (DIY) installations do not meet their recovery time objectives. For organisations needing a managed, automated, and orchestrated recovery solution for their virtualized environments, CR-VS offers a service level agreement-backed virtual recovery, regardless of storage technology in a pay-as-you-use based model.

To optimise recovery performance and value, Sungard AS and Zerto recommend tiering applications based on business priorities, IT and application dependencies, the right technologies and budget constraints. Tiered Recovery Offerings allows businesses to determine their RTOs, ranging from two hours to 16 hours; the number of disaster recovery (DR) tests needed to perform each year, from two to eight 48-hour test blocks; and the number of annual tests – from four to 20.

By going it alone, businesses miss out on uptime guarantees, service level agreements, and more than 40 years of disaster recovery experience as offered by Sungard AS. When working with Sungard AS and Zerto, our experts can monitor the success of the solution, assisting companies with their expertise when a disaster occurs and they failback to their production environment.

To learn more about Zerto and Sungard AS solutions for businesses who have a growing IT estate and need a scalable protection solution, visit Booth #11 at ZertoCON 2019. You’re also invited to Sungard AS’ presentation “Are You Ready for some Resiliency?” on May 21st at 2:55 in Room 209 A/B.

Once you discover that Sungard AS and Zerto experts are 2.5 times more successful in restoring production estates than the industry average, you can stop lamenting “I Fall to Pieces” and begin dancing to the “Boot Scootin’ Boogie.” See you in Nashville.
