The Power of Collaboration: VMware and Dell Technologies Validate Sungard AS Private Cloud

    October 21, 2020

About this time every four years (otherwise known as “election season,” the time between Labor Day and Tuesday after the first Monday in November), we begin to see a flurry of political endorsements. They range from newspapers to former politicians, sports figures, entertainers and professional organizations, and they’re as plentiful as toddlers in the neighborhood pumpkin patch. An endorsement is a public declaration of support, a way to lend a high degree of recognition, trust and respect – and in many situations, can bring credibility and legitimacy.

For enterprises, there’s nothing more valuable than an expert opinion or assessment when looking for a business partner. Companies frequently look to influential voices to validate their choices – and anything from awards to achievements to certifications can go a long way in helping them make the right selection.

That’s why Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) is proud to announce that it has achieved VMware Cloud Verified status, a badge signalling to customers that it offers a service running on top of the complete VMware Cloud infrastructure. Through Cloud Verified partner services, customers attain access to the full set of VMware Cloud Infrastructure capabilities including integration and interoperability, cost optimization and flexibility.

With its new Sungard AS Private Cloud offering approved as “VMware Cloud Verified,” Sungard AS can prove that it meets VMware’s standards for the ability to seamlessly run, manage, connect and secure applications across private and public clouds in a common operating environment. Built on industry-leading hyper-converged technology from its longstanding relationships with Dell Technologies and VMware, Sungard AS Private Cloud delivers the resiliency, control and commercial flexibility businesses are seeking.

Likewise, Dell Technologies just designated Sungard AS as a Powered by Dell Technologies CSP (Cloud Services Provider) Partner, recognizing that Sungard AS cloud solutions are designed to manage, extend, and expand customers’ hybrid and multi-cloud environments to deliver transformative outcomes. With companies increasingly turning to partners to help them manage growing IT complexity, CSPs address the changing needs of customer environments and deliver as-a-service solutions, both on- and off-premises.

As icing on the cake, Dell recently named Sungard AS its Technology Excellence Partner of the Year at the annual Dell Global Alliances Partner Summit, further underscoring Sungard AS’ ability to deliver next-gen technologies that help customers succeed in a dynamic business environment.

In fact, Sungard AS’ Private Cloud solution helps such customers focus on their core business while retaining a level of control as their needs change. Many IT leaders are struggling to develop their own private cloud infrastructures, expedite cloud migration or accommodate workloads that are not suitable for a hyperscale cloud solution. Sungard AS’ Private Cloud helps them easily deploy and manage applications in a modern, secure and agile infrastructure.

Further meeting the need for flexibility, customers can leverage Sungard AS service models ranging from self-managed to fully managed, or something in between, to augment their IT staff when and as they need it.

Underscoring the importance of endorsements in business relationships, analysts Kevin Rhone and Anne McConnell wrote in a recent Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) White Paper1 entitled Dell Technologies Partners: The Three Pillars That Support IT Optimization that: “Customers must trust their suppliers and partners, see innovation on the horizon, and be ready to scale at a moment’s notice.”

They go on to write that “Unlike previously, when enterprise IT departments preferred to ‘keep all their eggs in one basket,’ today’s IT leaders tell us that they rely heavily on comprehensive vendor and partner ecosystems to modernize their data centres, support critical workloads that may run in private or public clouds, and achieve the level of business transformation that will keep them competitive.”

The research went on to find that the benefits of partnering with third parties on cloud projects include saving time and money, aligning stakeholders and developing architectures, leveraging skills they don’t have in-house, and supplementing in-house staff. In conclusion, ESG found that “while cloud transformation projects…will drive dramatic business and technical benefits, organisations would be well served to explore partnerships with cloud solution architects who can help remove the friction from these transformations rather than going it alone.”

Exploring partnerships for cloud solutions gets much easier when the partners – like Sungard AS – are endorsed by long-time industry leaders such as Dell Technologies and VMware. Customers aren’t looking for Frank Sinatra to belt out “High Hopes” for Jack Kennedy or Dua Lipa to feel the Bern, but they ARE looking for serious advice on how to choose the best vendors.
