How to Identify and Manage Disaster Recovery Risk

Your data and compute capabilities are spread across multiple data centers, computer rooms, availability zones, geographic regions and international borders.

The threat landscape can shift by the second, and the list of potential disasters and disruptions you could face grows longer by the day.

And even with a complex infrastructure that may undergo constant change, you still have to figure out where to focus to keep your most critical systems running when a disaster hits. Even once you have a plan and test it regularly, your testing might not line up with the reality of a disaster.

    Where do you even begin?

Recovery readiness begins and ends with risk. If you can understand, prioritize and manage recovery risk across your enterprise, you can better prioritize risk treatments. Only then can you gain the confidence in your disaster recovery plan that your company's executives expect.

To have an effective disaster recovery (DR) risk management program, you need to focus on several key areas to identify and evaluate any risks that could impede your response to a disruption or disaster.

On October 9, Sungard AS' John Beattie will be hosting a webinar on how to build an effective DR risk management program and determine whether you have DR risk that affects your highest profile products and services.
