Sungard Availability Services Launches Intrusion Prevention Service

    July 26, 2022

New solution combines IPS technology with 24x7 security operations center expertise, resulting in a deeper level of security without alert overload

WAYNE, PA — July 26, 2022 — Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) has introduced a new Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS) solution that delivers inline blocking of malicious traffic in real time, backed by our 24x7 security operations center (SOC), providing a deeper level of security and visibility beyond a traditional firewall.

The average cost of a data breach has surged 10% in the past year, jumping from $3.86 million in 2020 to a record $4.24 million in 2021. As cyber threats become more advanced, network security requires greater attention to detail, and businesses must now place renewed focus on comprehensive protection.

Sungard AS’ IPS is ideal for organizations that desire inline IPS protection and 24x7 SOC coverage, without having to configure and manage it themselves. The solution includes Cisco Firepower hardware units equipped for IPS throughput up to 19gbps. Other key features include:

    • Geo Blocking

    • 90-day log retention

    • 99.95% hardware availability SLA

    • IPS security event reporting

    • Monitoring and reporting on IPS availability

    • Weekly security reviews

    • Forensics

“Navigating a complex cyber threat landscape remains an ongoing struggle, and frequent resource constraints don’t make it any easier,” said Matthew Parsons, Director of Network and Security Product Management at Sungard AS. “But businesses aren’t going to combat this mounting risk with perimeter security alone; they need comprehensive network security that addresses ongoing threats without any unwanted alerts. Our latest IPS solution combines the people and technology to proactively drop and block malicious traffic in real time, resulting in a deeper level of security without alert overload.”

Sungard AS’ IPS is part of the company’s managed security portfolio and can be deployed in either a Sungard AS data center or at a customer’s site. Learn more about the Sungard AS IPS solution.
