The Challenge

Mid to large sized enterprises have complex IT environments. Some applications exist in the cloud. Others reside on premise or in third party data centers, and often they can be interdependent on each other. With IT becoming increasingly hybrid, recovery becomes more difficult which is evident from the industry test success rate of 36%*. The need for AWS skills in addition to Disaster Recovery skills and having your IT staff available just when it could be difficult to mobilize them has triggered some organizations to ask Sungard AS for help to design build and run their physical and cloud recovery environments.

Sungard AS Recovery Solution

Sungard Availability Services (Sungard AS) is a leader in Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and has over 40 years of experience in delivering fully recoverable production services.

Sungard AS has brought its heritage of recovery success to the Public Cloud with AWS. We deliver an Enterprise-Class Managed, SLA Backed, Recovery Service leveraging the cost efficiency and infrastructure flexibility available with Public Cloud. Cloud Recovery — AWS is a complete packaged solution providing immediate improved resiliency, with a 4 hour Recovery Time Objective SLA. Workloads can be hosted On Premise or within another AWS Region, and then recovered to the customer's desired AWS Region.

Cloud Recovery — AWS is a Managed service, as opposed to a DIY Solution, negating the need for AWS or recovery skills, or personnel to implement, test and operate the Recovery Solution. Risk of downtime for workloads currently exposed can be mitigated in an expedited fashion. Ensuring availability is built into the DNA of our services, we deliver a seamless recovery experience for our customers to, and in-between AWS regions.

Compute resources are not charged until At Time Of Test (ATOT) or At Time Of Disaster (ATOD) allowing for efficient management of budgets. Virtual and physical X86 workloads are supported including VMware, Hyper-V and recovery from Microsoft Azure.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) capability is from 15 minutes, which comes with an SLA of 4 hours for up to 250 Instances. Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of near real time, with additional "point-in-time" snap shots every 10 minutes, every 1 hour and every 1 day over a 30 day rolling data retention period.
